5.3.1.8 How do vaccine baits need to be transported?

A golden rule is to keep the cold chain (-20 °C) in place until final distribution. This applies both for the transportation of vaccine baits from the manufacturer to the customer and from there to the place of distribution (hand distribution, airport).

During aerial distribution, however, vaccine baits should no longer be frozen because they can easily fall apart (mechanical resistance, see 5.3.1.6). In any case, the vaccine titre should be determined before distribution in the field to determine if there have been any adverse impacts on the potency of the vaccine during storage.
