5.3.6.3 How are the areas determined?

Flight routes
The size of the areas to be covered by individual teams distributing baits by hand depends predominantly on the areas that have not been covered by aerial distribution. Accessibility and ownership of land in the vaccination area are also important considerations.

After aerial distribution, non-baited areas can be identified by detailed maps or other information provided by flight services (see section 5.3.7.4), or more easily by using available mapping tools, e.g. GoogleEarth, especially for suburban and urban settlements. Local veterinary authorities are responsible for determining these areas (see section 5.3.5.2) and for calculating the number of vaccine baits needed for the bait density.
