5.3.7.3 Who is in charge of organising aerial distribution?

National and regional veterinary authorities or wildlife services are responsible for contracting aerial flight services based on tender specifications. They should remain in permanent contact with the flight services during the vaccination campaigns. This includes involvement in planning and supervising upcoming activities, as well as analysis and discussion of the results of aerial distribution in vaccination campaigns.

Veterinary authorities or wildlife services need to contact and inform other ministries that could be affected, e.g. the Ministry of Defence and the Ministry of the Environment, and obtain clearance for special areas to be covered by baits. If vaccination areas border neighbouring countries, counterparts in the neighbouring countries need to be informed.
