1.14 Can the strategy to control fox rabies be used for other wildlife rabies reservoirs?

Although the techniques required to control fox rabies may be similar for other wildlife rabies reservoirs (for example, coyotes or raccoons), the strategy required for success may need to be adapted substantially for each species.

However, in Europe data indicate that the same ORV strategy developed for foxes works effectively for raccoon dogs (Nyctereutes procyonoides), an alien species in Europe, considered a second potential wildlife reservoir host (read more here).
