Who is responsible for hand distribution?

The question is not who is responsible but who is willing to become involved in distributing baits. This depends on the local situation, although the coordination of hand distribution lies in the responsibilities of the veterinary authorities. Some suggestions; hunters, park wardens/rangers, municipality workers, wildlife biologists and technicians, landowners can get involved.

They should be trained and instructed by experienced personnel (biologists, hunters) on the importance of proper bait distribution, e.g. selection of appropriate baiting places, handling of vaccine baits, documentation of bait distribution, etc.

A small preparatory meeting involving training before each campaign where everyone involved is informed about procedures has proven to be very useful. Any difficulties encountered during the campaign should be communicated and discussed with the relevant authorities so that plans can be adapted.
