5.5.17 How do I organise the data for evaluation?

Data should be collected by national or regional veterinary laboratories involved in rabies diagnosis and monitoring ORV campaigns. Veterinary authorities or wildlife services should consider setting up a national rabies database at the NRL for rabies, which should combine both data for rabies surveillance and monitoring of ORV campaigns.

In any case, individual datasets (see section 5.5.9) should be preferred over cumulative data as they allow better epidemiological analysis. If testing of animals for rabies surveillance and ORV monitoring is decentralised, data have to be frequently transferred to the national rabies database at the NRL.
