Why is it important to have kick-off meetings when implementing ORV campaigns?

Initial kick-off meetings organised by responsible authorities provide an opportunity to gather all stakeholders together (hunters, wildlife service staff, forest officers, physicians, veterinarians, local authorities, etc.).

They should discuss in detail the overall ORV programme, the timing of vaccination campaigns to be conducted, designation of vaccination areas, the importance of rabies surveillance and monitoring of ORV campaigns in a certain region and the responsibilities of each stakeholder. It is also an opportunity to answer any questions related to the issue.

In Europe, these kick-off meetings have been shown to be very useful in terms of communication and exchange of information.
